On Ford TPMS Systems you need to manually put the vehicle into a learn mode before you can learn with a TPMS tool.
The procedure is as follows.

The procedure is as follows.
- Ignition OFF.
- Press and release the brake pedal.
- Turn the ignition ON/OFF 3 times, end with position ON.
- Press and release the brake pedal.
- Turn the ignition to position OFF.
- Turn the ignition ON/OFF 3 times, end with position ON.
- A beep sounds once and the TPMS lamp flashes if the learning mode has started. Vehicles with information display also displays "CALIBRATE LEFT FRONT TIRE".
- Position the activation tool at the valve stem and activate the tool. A short beep sounds to indicate that the tire pressure sensor has been identified. It may take a few seconds to activate the sensor. During this time, the tool must remain at the valve stem.
- Repeat step 8 for the right front tire and then also for the right rear and the left rear.
- The learning is completed when the last tire has been learned. Vehicle with information display shows "COMPLETED". Otherwise the learning is confirmed by, the ignition switch is turned to position OFF without any beep sounds. If the beep sounds twice, the learning has failed.
- Turn ignition ON/OFF.
- Function complete.
